R&D Sourcing Manager

Ardent Staffing is seeking an experienced R&D Sourcing Manager to support a fast-paced engineering environment focused on prototyping and new product development. This role will drive sourcing activities, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure timelines, cost goals, and quality standards are met.

You’ll work closely with teams in engineering, product management, and supply chain to develop sourcing strategies that align with evolving product designs and continuous engineering changes. The ideal candidate is proactive, strategic, and thrives in environments with low volume, high mix, and custom-built components.
Key Responsibilities

Sourcing Strategy Development
  • Create and implement sourcing strategies for R&D projects.
  • Evaluate suppliers for technical capabilities, quality, pricing, and scalability.
  • Align with product and engineering teams on material needs and specs.
Supplier Management
  • Develop early engagement plans with engineering and commodity teams.
  • Collaborate on contracts and pricing negotiations to meet internal goals.
  • Drive supplier readiness for program milestones.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with internal teams to support product launches and prototype builds.
  • Participate in design reviews to assess manufacturability and sourcing impact.
  • Act as liaison between suppliers and internal teams to resolve delivery or quality issues.
Supply Chain & Risk Management
  • Monitor potential risks (timeline, quality, supply chain disruption, etc.).
  • Propose and execute risk mitigation strategies.
  • Report project status, highlight supply risks, and drive solutions.
Process Development
  • Standardize sourcing and supply chain practices for R&D programs.
  • Propose improvements for internal systems and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years in sourcing/procurement/supply chain for product development
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiations, sourcing strategy, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Background in engineering or manufacturing environments preferred
  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

  • 4 days onsite per week required
  • Travel up to 15–20% as needed
  • Pay-$50 to $75 DOE
  • Contract
