1st Shift Production Supervisor
Position Overview
The Senior Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production activities to ensure operational targets for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery are consistently achieved. This role plays a key part in supporting the company’s Safety Program, identifying and addressing safety concerns, and driving Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise molding and secondary production line setups, ensuring production starts on schedule.
- Oversee all production activities during assigned shifts, maintaining a strong presence on the floor and assuming full responsibility in the absence of the Production Manager.
- Maintain established business standards for productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
- Monitor and report daily production metrics, including material usage, scrap, downtime, and efficiency.
- Update ERP systems as required to ensure accurate data tracking.
- Report equipment issues promptly to the appropriate department and Production Manager.
- Coordinate with Quality Control to uphold quality standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Partner with the Production Manager on personnel management, including hiring, training, scheduling, vacation/timecard approvals, and overtime planning.
- Assist with the development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and production processes.
- Track and analyze molding and secondary production statistics, including scrap rates and labor hours.
- Facilitate communication across shifts and functional areas to ensure smooth operations.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all required training is up to date and compliant.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in plastic injection molding or a related manufacturing industry.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or leadership training preferred.
- Proven ability to supervise, coach, and motivate teams to achieve performance goals.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality standards.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Machining experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of secondary equipment operation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with common plastic molding defects and their causes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (DELMIAWorks preferred).
