2nd Shift Production Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Senior Supervisor – 2nd Shift
Pay Range: $32 – $34 per hour
The Senior Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations on 1st shift and ensuring that business performance metrics are consistently achieved. This role supports and enforces the Safety Program by identifying and addressing safety concerns, while also driving Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise molding and secondary production line set-up, ensuring production lines start on schedule.
  • Oversee all production activities performed by employees; maintain high visibility on the production floor and act as the shift leader in the absence of the Production Manager.
  • Ensure business standards for productivity, quality, and on-time delivery are met.
  • Monitor and report daily production results, material usage, scrap, and downtime.
  • Update ERP systems as required.
  • Report equipment issues to appropriate departments and the Production Manager.
  • Partner with Quality Control to maintain quality standards; implement corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to address personnel issues and performance management, including vacation approval, timecard approval, overtime management, hiring, and training.
  • Assist with policy and procedure development and ensure compliance across all production staff.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of operating systems and procedures related to production.
  • Track and analyze production statistics such as efficiency, labor hours, and scrap rates.
  • Develop and maintain systems, procedures, and work instructions to meet customer quality standards.
  • Promote communication across all shifts and departments.
  • Support safety programs and ensure employees complete required training in compliance with regulations.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within plastic injection molding or a related industry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong supervisory and team motivation skills.
  • Solid knowledge of production practices and procedures.
  • Commitment to excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing demands with enthusiasm.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Machining experience is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of secondary equipment and machinery.
  • Strong understanding of molded part defects, root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems; DELMIAWorks is a plus.
