R&D Mechanical Technical Specialist
Hourly Pay Rate: $40 – $45/hr
Work Hours: 9:00 – 5:00

Length of Contract: 6 – 12 months
Position Overview:
Our client located in Billerica, MA is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Technical Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of hands-on mechanical expertise across various industries such as automotive, motorsports, robotics, or aircraft repair. This role demands a deep understanding of assembling, troubleshooting, and servicing complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, combined with the ability to develop and refine processes and tooling for prototype builds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Expertise: Assemble, troubleshoot, and service complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
- Process Development: Develop and refine processes, tooling, and fixturing for the assembly of first article prototype builds, working with minimal engineering guidance.
- Project Execution: Take ownership of high-level project objectives, executing tasks quickly and autonomously while ensuring adherence to quality and performance standards.
- CAD Proficiency: Utilize basic CAD skills (Catia, SolidWorks) to open assemblies and design tooling and fixturing as needed for prototype development.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members and other departments to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into larger projects. Provide support and insights that drive team success.
Experience/Education/Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on mechanical expertise in relevant fields such as automotive, motorsports, robotics, aircraft repair, etc.
- Proven experience in assembling, troubleshooting, and servicing complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop processes and tooling/fixturing for prototype builds with minimal engineering guidance.
- Experience with basic CAD software (Catia, SolidWorks) for opening assemblies and designing tooling and fixturing.
- Ability to work autonomously and execute high-level project objectives quickly and effectively.
