As a Machinist, you'll be responsible for operating manual lathes and mills to craft high-quality components according to engineering specifications. Key Responsibilities for a Machinist:
  • Set up and operate manual lathes and mills to fabricate components to exact specifications.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
  • Ensure finished parts meet quality standards and dimensional tolerances through careful measurement and inspection.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machining processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance product quality.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Document work procedures, setup processes, tooling changes, and inspection results.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior machinists as necessary.
Qualifications for a Machinist:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in machining preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and operating manual lathes and mills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with common machining materials, including metals like steel, aluminum, and others.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Prior experience with CNC machining is superior.
